Trendsetter International, Hall 11.0 D15

BEDDING manufacturer and distributer Trendsetter International will be showcasing its latest innovations – as well as unveiling new products and its exciting plans for 2019 – at this year’s Heimtextil exhibition.

Following a remarkable year – with first-to-market products and new accreditations reinforcing its leadership in sustainable practices – Trendsetter’s commitment to innovation is continuing apace.

A year of firsts

In April 2018, leading the competition, Trendsetter launched the UK’s first 100% recycled duvet under it’s Fine Bedding Company brand. The ECO duvet joins Trendsetter’s inaugural product featuring recycled polyester from plastic bottles, SMARTDOWN® that mimics the finest Hungarian goose down, introduced in 2017.

Claire Watkin, Trendsetter’s Managing Director, said: “The move towards introducing new sustainably sourced products using recycled plastics, offering consumer a more environmentally friendly bedding alternative, is a hugely positive one, and we’re delighted that others in the UK industry are now following suit with their own variants, such as mattresses.”

The ECO duvet was awarded the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) this year.

Another brand new type of duvet created by Trendsetter in 2018 has also seen the business steal a march on the UK competition. Its Night Owl duvet is a ready printed, fully washable duvet that doesn’t require an additional duvet cover. Introduced in May 2018, it has already become one of the Fine Bedding Company’s top selling products and has been featured in numerous media as a revolutionary new bedding variant.

Evidencing Trendsetter’s significant advances in sustainable practices, this year the business has been recognised amongst some of the world’s most renowned apparel and textile brands in the Textile Exchange industry benchmark report into the sourcing of sustainable fibres and adoption of responsible supply networks.

Trendsetter was positioned ninth in the ‘race to the top preferred cotton leader board’, which ranks companies closing the gap between conventional and preferred fibres in their portfolio. The business also featured in the 100% Club on the preferred Down leader board with all fibres coming from preferred suppliers.

Claire Watkin says: “As a business we are fully committed to ethical sourcing, traceability and sustainability. We have long been a forerunner in our industry and we continue to lead our competitors in this area too.

“Previously, Trendsetter was the first business in our sector to carry the prestigious DOWNPASS 2017 seal and all of Trendsetter’s suppliers are audited annually by the IDFL (International Down and Feather testing Laboratory) http://www.idfl.com to ensure they’re compliant. We’re currently working towards the Responsible Down Standard.

“We ensure that all of our suppliers have signed a contract for the compliance of corporate ethics, including working conditions, the environment and the treatment of animals. We use independent third party auditors to ensure supply chain traceability and conformance to the European Down and Feather Association (EDFA), International Down & Feather Testing Laboratory (IDFL), and Oeko-Tek® raw material standards.”

In addition to its product innovation, last year Trendsetter’s award-winning purpose built eco factory upped its sustainability processes to reach the use of 100% renewable energy.
