Creators of small batch, functional and decorative handmade ceramics, Kim Wallace Ceramics, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to expand production from their home-based hinterland studio into Noosaville warehouse.
From a small hobby and passion project, KW Ceramics has slowly developed over the last 7 years to a thriving production pottery studio with 3 kilns and full-time team of 4. With the goal of continuing to grow, offering their handcrafted wares to a wider audience, they have recently launched a Pozible Campaign and are calling on the support of the community to push their $25,000 goal over the line. All proceeds will go towards the move and set-up of their brand new space.
After noticing a gap in the market and push towards people searching out quality, handmade goods that stand the test of time, Kim launched KW Ceramics in 2012. Over time an increase in demand has seen the business slowly outgrow her home-based studio and overtake other areas of the house. The decision to expand has been a topic of conversation amongst the team for years and they have decided to finally take the risk.
‘This is a giant leap for our small studio and we really need the support of our local community for our small business to survive and grow in a world of too-many mass produced items’, she says. ‘People are taking more time to consider what they bring into their homes, hopefully the maker movement will continue to pick up speed’.
