Ligne Roset: Saparella

Ligne Roset: Saparella

Launched in 1973, the Togo is one of the world’s most recognised upholstery models. Created for Ligne Roset by Michel Ducaroy, the French manufacturer’s then-Head of Design, nearly 1.5 million pieces of the multi-award winning seating have been sold to date in over 70 countries. “The arrival of the all-foam Togo and its revolutionary way of living encouraged people to explore new directions for their homes and told them, “yes, you can be different!” explains Creative Director Michel Roset.

Today, Ligne Roset continues its quest to create new seating concepts with the re-release of a pioneering 1965 model, the Saparella, designed by Ducaroy eight years before the launch of his iconic Togo. Relaunched for indoor and outdoor use, the modular Saparella consists of a concave diabolo – inspired by the toy of the same name – onto which slots the convex fireside chair, enabling one to create and modify compositions as desired. Echoing the Togo’s low, loungey form and baguette-stitched quilting, the all-foam Saparella is hand-crafted at Ligne Roset’s factories in rural France, combining technical innovation and iconic design with over 150 years of manufacturing expertise.
