Fantasia, the latest wall-mounted, vertical cooker hood to be launched by high-end Italian designer Elica has been awarded a prestigious 2013 Red Dot Design Award.
More than 1800 companies, designers and architects from 54 different countries were asked to consider 4,662 projects for a Red Dot Design Award. A jury of 37 renowned professionals then selected the winners, based particularly on their success in representing the concept of “high-quality design”.
Fantasia’s strength lies in the simplicity of its design. Available in a black or white glass finish or silestone quartz and for top or rear ducting or recycling within the kitchen, it incorporates a single panel that conceals all of the innovative airflow system that extends along the entire perimeter of the unit. These cavities capture the air directed across the entire surface of the unit. The high performance unit, which incorporates both grease and charcoal filter units as standard, can extract air at rates of up to 610m3 per hour. LED lighting and an InfraRed touch control panel deliver convenience whilst also creating a stunning visual impression.
The Red Dot Award means that Fantasia is now a three time award winner, following its earlier triumphs in the 2013 iF Design and Good Design Awards, confirming the attention to detail that Elica puts into both product design and build quality.
Stephen Bogod of Elica UK commented: “This award is testament to the importance that we place on designing truly extraordinary products that combine bold-design, high build quality and innovative technology. The Fantasia is new to the UK – though all the signs are that it is going to make a big impact within the kitchen products market.”
Elica is the world’s largest manufacturer of cooker hoods. The company’s belief that a functional appliance like a cooker hood can and should be exquisite in its design and of high quality its finish underpins its extensive range of wall mounted, hanging, island-mounted, corner-mounted, downdraft and ceiling units.
